Andrzej Lichota: Abstraction in Kraków

“On 21 October at 7:30 p.m., the Archetura Gallery at 9 Cystersów Street will host the opening of an exhibition of paintings by Andrzej Lichota, a renowned Polish cartoonist, animation filmmaker, and director. The series of abstract paintings entitled Andrzej Lichota — ABSTRACTIONS: Australia, Iran, La Gomera constitute a ‘record’ of the artist’s personal impressions and reflections inspired by his travels.

Andrzej Lichota is a versatile artist. Although he is best known for his drawings—more than 5,500 of which have been published in Polish and international newspapers and weekly magazines—he has also produced over 60 short animated films. His work has been presented at venues and events including the international Ancient Palaces exhibition in Italy in 2016, the Museum of Caricature in Warsaw in 2008, St. Pölten in Austria, the Polish Institute in Budapest, as well as at more than a dozen solo exhibitions and over 130 group exhibitions and festivals.
