“Corrida” is one of the central paintings of the series and synthesises its most important ideas. The triptych does not depict a particular moment of the spectacle, but its timeless dimension – the ritual of encounter, confrontation and the constant tension between opposing forces.

The monumental composition rests on a dialogue between deep black, intense red and expressive vertical forms emerging from the painterly matter. Dividing the image into three parts creates a rhythm resembling successive acts of a performance, while the central forms remain deliberately ambiguous. They may evoke the figure of a man, a bull, or merely the trace of energy left by their meeting.

The ascetic space heightens the significance of the painterly gesture, which becomes a vehicle for emotion, memory and movement. Red is not merely a colour – it becomes a symbol of life, passion, courage and the inevitability of sacrifice, while black builds a space of silence, uncertainty and contemplation.

Within the Corrida series the triptych becomes a universal reflection on the nature of confrontation. It speaks neither of victory nor defeat, but of the experience of an encounter that leaves a lasting trace in human memory.
