Light, 2013

Light builds space through the relationships of colour, matter and rhythm. A central vertical form orders the composition, marking the tensions between dense painterly structures and the luminous passages of the image.

Light is not the subject of depiction here, but the principle of construction. It organises the perception of the painting, giving matter direction, depth and inner dynamism. Abstraction does not describe reality; it reveals its structure.
