TORO No. 7, 2022

  • cardboard, synthetic materials, paint
  • corrida

The Toro series extends the Corrida cycle, carrying its core ideas from painting into the space of the object. It was made from fragments of cardboard, plastics and materials used while working on the paintings. The layers of paint visible on their surfaces are an authentic record of the creative process - traces of gestures, decisions and time that once helped to build the painted compositions.

Each object reduces the silhouette of the bull to a synthetic sign, balanced between sculpture, sketch and symbol. It does not represent the animal but its archetype - energy, instinct, tension and readiness for confrontation.

Enclosed in glass cases, the works function like artefacts or fragments of memory preserved after the creative process has ended. They are a material testimony to transformation - to the moment when what remains of painting becomes an autonomous work in its own right.
