Abstraction No. 20 rests on subtle relationships between light, colour and painterly matter. A reduced palette of deep blues, violets and blacks builds a space of exceptional concentration, in which light emerges not from depiction but from the inner structure of the painting.

Restraint of means does not mean simplification. On the contrary – it allows attention to focus on the inner rhythm of the composition, where every gesture and every layer of colour contributes to a space built more by perception than by representation.
