"Bullfight" draws on the primal instinct of confrontation present in the natural world. It does not depict a realistic scene of combat, but the energy of two equal forces meeting in a dynamic dialogue. The painting becomes a metaphor for rivalry, dominance and mutual influence, inscribed both in the nature of animals and in human experience.
The composition is built from violently intersecting painterly gestures and multi-layered paint matter. Black, white and intensely coloured bands change direction continuously, creating a rhythm that recalls the collision of masses, movement and mounting tension. The individual forms remain ambiguous, balanced between figuration and abstraction, so that the painting works through energy rather than narrative.
Within the Corrida series the work takes up struggle as a universal experience of nature. It tells of neither victory nor defeat, but of a ceaseless exchange of forces in which instinct, movement and emotion form a single dynamic whole.
