White Abstraction, 2014

White Abstraction examines the boundary between presence and the almost complete disappearance of the image. A restricted palette and layers of paint applied and scraped back many times create a surface in which light becomes an equal element of the composition.

The painting retains only what is essential – trace, rhythm and the breath of space. It is painting reduced to its most elementary means of expression.
