Abstraction No. 3, 2014

Abstract No. 3 builds tension between darkness and light, weight and transparency. Dense, almost black passages of the painting collide with bright planes, creating a composition in which each successive layer both reveals and conceals the traces beneath it.

The surface of the painting resembles a record of experiences left by time. Overlapping gestures, abrasions and fragments of colour do not lead to a single meaning, but remain open.
