Abstraction No. 9, 2015

Abstract No. 9 develops the idea of reduction and quietening. Delicate layers of white, blue and grey almost dissolve the matter of the painting, leaving only subtle traces of gesture and time.

The minimal range of contrasts and the economy of means turn the painting into a space of contemplation. It carries no narrative and refers to no particular place – it leaves the viewer with an experience of silence, light and memory inscribed in matter.
