The Shah’s Palace, 2016

  • Oil on canvas
  • 170 x 140 cm
  • Iran

The painting was made under the impression of visits to the palaces of the last Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Rather than reconstructing their architecture, it preserves the experience of light, silence and space that remained after a place marked by history.

Transparent layers of colour, vertical rhythms and subtle traces of gesture create a composition balanced between presence and disappearance. The Shah’s Palace becomes a reflection on transience, memory, and the way history leaves traces not only in architecture but also in human experience.
