Abstraction No. 11, 2015

Abstraction No. 11 develops the idea of layering present throughout the Iran series. The dense structure of the painting is formed from overlapping traces, gestures and fragments of colour which do not build a single narrative but remain in continuous dialogue with one another.

The painting preserves the complexity of experiencing a culture in which history, memory and the present do not follow one another but exist simultaneously.
