Vault, 2014

  • Oil on canvas
  • 100 x 90 cm
  • Iran

Vault grew out of the experience of Iranian architecture as a space in which history, spirituality and everyday life coexist, forming a multilayered reality. The painting does not refer to a particular place, but to the experience of a space that exceeds its physical dimension.

Vertical rhythms, transparent layers and traces of gesture build a composition in which different experiences, cultures and memories seem to permeate one another and exist simultaneously. The materiality of the paint becomes a means of capturing a space that is not architecture, but a state of consciousness.
