Damavand, 2015
- Oil on canvas
- 170 x 120 cm
- Iran
Damavand refers to the highest peak in Iran – a place present both in the landscape and in cultural memory. The painting does not depict the mountain, but the atmosphere of space, light and monumentality that accompanies an encounter with the Iranian landscape.
Overlapping layers of blues, greys and whites create a structure resembling traces of time, erosion and reflection. The matter of the painting remains in constant motion, balanced between landscape and abstraction.
