Australia Triptych, 2016
- oil on canvas
- 170 x 450 cm
- Australia
This monumental triptych emerged from a journey of several months across Australia and became the starting point for an entire series devoted to the continent. Rather than documenting specific locations, it seeks to capture the intensity of the experience—the light, the vastness of the landscape, the rhythms of nature, and the encounter with Indigenous Australian culture.
The abstract composition unfolds like a panoramic landscape, its individual panels engaging in a continuous dialogue. Varied textures, multilayered paint surfaces, and dynamic gestures create a tension between vitality and contemplation. Colour ceases to describe reality and instead becomes a vehicle for memory, emotion, and the experience of place.
The triptych defines the direction of the artist’s subsequent explorations, in which landscape is transformed into an autonomous painterly structure—a space where personal experience acquires a universal dimension.
