Mottled Abstraction is a painting of exceptionally high painterly density. Repeatedly applied layers of paint, vertical runs and the contrast between dark and luminous passages create a pulsating structure that continually reveals and conceals its own depth.

The composition resembles a record of a process rather than its result. Each layer leaves a trace of earlier decisions, building a painting in which memory, time and matter coexist as one continuously changing whole.
