AUSTRALIA II from 2020 - ongoing

The Australia series grows out of journeys across the continent and encounters with its Indigenous inhabitants. The monumental scale of the landscape, the intensity of light that heightens colour, and the sense of geological time became the impulse for paintings that depict no particular place, but condense the memory of space and the experience of its effect on a person. It is a meditation on the relationship between nature, culture and human presence in the world.
