Red Rock, 2016

The painting was inspired by the Australian interior – a landscape in which geological time remains almost tangible. The layered painterly matter unfolds like a record of successive sediments, while the relationships between red, ochre and black evoke the experience of a space shaped by millions of years of transformation.
