The Fight, 2017

  • Oil on canvas
  • 182 x 150 cm
  • Corrida

The painting presents confrontation as one of the fundamental forces of human experience. It examines the moment when opposing energies meet, collide and mutually define their presence.

The composition is built from intersecting axes, abrupt gestures and contrasts of light and deep black. The individual painterly layers themselves become movement. Tension mounts between the forms and remains unresolved, as though the act of fighting mattered more than its outcome.

Within the Corrida series the work addresses the universal dimension of confrontation. The fight ceases to be an event in the arena and becomes a metaphor for human determination, courage and the constant crossing of one’s own limits.
